Another wonderful course was held in July. Now we have five tutors, we had 70 students and six untutored lacemakers all working hard and creating some beautiful lace.

In addition to the regular tutors: Kitty, Frances, Claire and Carole, we welcomed Diana to be our new tutor.

We were also delighted that we had four beginners. They all made wonderful progress under the watchful eye of Frances.

Edinburgh Lace Course 2025

Two ‘Teatime Talks’ were held. On Tuesday evening Claire gave us hints on threads and bobbin winding and Carole talked about how to get the most from ‘Threads for Lace’, the thread reference book by Brenda Paternoster. If you want to see what Claire was telling us, please see her Youtube video (@Bonitocrafts).

On Thursday, Carole introduced students to the wide range of techniques and styles of bobbin lace and possible routes for less experienced lacemakers to expand their knowledge.

The Challenge 2025 was on the theme of Marine. Congratulations to Napaphan and Sue on wining the public vote.

Thank you to Barbara and Mark from Mainly Lace and Tree carcass tweaking for their beautiful selection of lace equipment, bobbins and wooden objects.
